Keyword Search Words and Phrases
If your goal is to simply get more traffic, then choosing keywords is a simple
process. Choose the ones most requested, right? Well ... sort of. We can help
you with that, but it is not our recommendation.
We recommend that you first conquer the most qualified searches first. For
example, if a patient types in "Endometriosis", which is a very crowded search
by the way, they are likely looking for information to learn about their
current treatment. If your site is designed to go after "Endometriosis", you
may get a piece of this traffic, look at your stats and conclude that people
are finding your site. But is the effort converting into patients for you?
Let's say your site was redesigned to get a large chunk of "Endometriosis
Florida" searches. Although the total search numbers are fewer, the likelihood
of this being a patient looking for an endometriosis physician in Florida is
infinitely greater. Which is better? A small piece of an unqualified pool of
patients or a large piece of highly qualified traffic.
To make our point, it is not uncommon for a web site to get as many visitors in
a week than the practice does in a year, but the practice claims that few
patients come from the Internet. What's happening? We have all heard the
numbers before ... but do they yield patients? Perhaps it is a keyword focus.
Perhaps it is a web site issue.
We can help you choose keywords or you can choose them yourself. Determining
your exact target audience is one of the most important decisions you will make
about your site.
